Calne Town Ladies survived a very heavy rain downpour in the second half but couldn't deal with the storm that came in the form of a very good Westbury Ladies FC team, as the Lilywhites lost their first league match of the season 3–0 at a very wet and windy Beversbrook.

First half

Calne were in trouble immediately as Westbury took the lead on 8 minutes, beating the Lilywhites defence. Lexi Czerwionka tried to respond a few minutes later with a good free kick from outside the box that was well caught by the Westbury goalkeeper.

Things got worse for the Lilywhites on 16 minutes as the visitors doubled their lead from a through ball that caught the Calne defence napping. Calne were pinned in their half, and resolute defending and a couple of good saves by Abbie Osbourne kept the visitors at bay.

The Lilywhites thought they had got back into the game at the end of the half as another thunderous free kick by Czerwionka in the swirling wind just missed the top right corner of the goal, and Calne went into the break 2–0 down.

Second half

The Lilywhites searched for a way back into the game as the heavy rain fell in the second half, Issy Satchell weaving her magic on the left-hand side but to no avail. It was Westbury who extended their lead during one of their many onslaughts on the Lilywhites goal, getting their third on 67 minutes.

Calne, playing much brighter in the rain, couldn't get on the scoresheet despite good efforts. Satchell, who had to don the gloves and go in goal due to injury, made a couple of good saves to keep the score respectable as the match ended 3–0 to the visitors.
